January 1, 2020 was the deadline for multimillion-dollar, global companies conducting online business in California to adhere to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Due to its similarity to EU’s General Data Protection Regulation act (GDPR,) it has been affectionately termed “America’s GDPR,” and it puts companies at risk of fines/penalties ranging from $100 to $7,500 per violation.

Driving to work the other day I listened on the radio to Warrior’s commentator Jim Barnett recall some of his favorite memories from the now defunct Oracle Arena. I was particularly struck by his experience watching Klay Thompson’s mind-blowing, record performance of scoring 37-points in a single quarter. At some point during Klay’s barrage, Barnett said, he took off his headphones, stopped broadcasting, and simply immersed himself in the roar of the crowd.

Our companion robot, Kuri, soon after it spots you, will surely roll on over to give you a welcome. Kuri continually reminds us that the digital world and reality are becoming increasingly intertwined. With Virtual Reality presenting new worlds and opportunities, it’s no wonder that the industry is expected to grow from $9.1 billion in 2017 to nearly $160 billion in 2021.

The linear, waterfall way of approaching projects was thrown out the door in favor of a more flexible model.  The idea behind agile originated in software development. The fast-paced, instantaneous nature of software meant that products and services had to be developed rapidly to keep up with this standard. Yet teachers are still charged with educating their classes on digital media literacy to make sense of today’s world. If the curriculum is adeptly taught, students develop the skills necessary to analyze, interpret, and accurately comprehend the online content they consume.

Email Backscatter

Marker Seven was recently inquired about an issue with a client's email account regarding spam email. The client's email account has seemingly been sending out spam mail, only to be bounced back into their own inbox as a delivery failure notice. However, no outgoing messages of the sort were found in the sent or in the outbox. After receiving an example delivery failure email and doing some research, Marker Seven has identified the problem and recommended a course of action to reduce the number of spam emails our client will receive in their inbox .
