Santa Clara County Launches New GIS Web site

Santa Clara, CA. The Santa Clara County Planning Office announced the launch of its GIS Property Mapping Application. This application allows site visitors to request a property map and related information from the over 450,000 parcels tracked by the Santa Clara County Assessor. Users can access specific Santa Clara property maps by entering a street address or APN (Access Parcel Number). The result is a dynamically generated GIS image which includes property information including acreage, zoning restrictions, general plan information and jurisdiction status.

Marker Seven, a leading Web design and development firm located in San Francisco, redesigned the Santa Clara County Web site and integrated all GIS functionality with their site. According to Dale Cook, Marker Seven’s Chief Systems Architect, “This is a great improvement from the old system where city officials, developers and property owners would have to wait weeks work through a lengthy paper-based system. This entire process can now be completed in minutes from any computer connected to the Internet”.
