Marker Seven, an award-winning digital agency, announces the completion of its pro bono Website project for Eco-Dog.org, the San Francisco initiative that advocates for off–leash dog walking in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) while at the same time supporting strong environmental stewardship of the natural landscape. The San Francisco SPCA commissioned the new website, which was developed with coalition members Crissy Field Dog Group, Fort Funston Dog Walkers Association, Marin Unleashed, San Francisco PAWS, and San Francisco SPCA.
“We are very appreciative of the generosity of everyone involved at Marker Seven,” said Jennifer Scarlett, D.V.M., co-interim president of the SF SPCA. “Having worked with Marker Seven in the past, we knew that their technical ad design expertise plus their understanding of the Bay Area’s unique culture and outlook made them the ideal partner for us.”
The new Eco-Dog.org site provides information about off-leash dog walking in San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo counties, all of which include natural areas under the jurisdiction of the GGNRA. The site provides information on how to get involved in the effort to preserve dog walking in local recreation areas, how to build and strengthen the Eco-Dog.org community and how to play a part in protecting local open spaces.
In support of the product Marker Seven designed the new site and developed it using Drupal, the Open Source Content Management System. Drupal offers a flexible platform for displaying dynamic content which makes it a perfect platform for a site as informative as Eco-Dog.org. Each page allows for displaying any configuration of desired content -- photos, quick facts and more -- without the need for additional programming. As such, the Eco-Dog.org team can easily update the site content as needed.
“Eco-Dog.org exemplifies the enormously critical role the Web plays today in providing the public with information about issues that impact their lives,” said John Clauss, Marker Seven president. “Eco-Dog.org is an example of a local issue with national implications that requires people have all the information they need order to take a stand and get involved if they choose. We appreciate the opportunity Eco-Dog.org and the SF SPCA gave us to participate in what is at the heart of the democratic process – educate the public about issues so they can make informed decisions.”
