Marker Seven, a leading provider of Web-based creative and technology solutions, was selected by Green Coast, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the growth of California's market for clean, renewable energy, to design and develop a Web site and create the first blog to strengthen public awareness of renewable energy technologies in California.
“We chose Marker Seven because of the quality of their portfolio, stellar reputation, and overall feel we get from their personnel,” said the Executive Director at Green Coast. “We wanted to inform the public about who we are and to build a dynamic blog that would be instrumental in achieving our goal to foster the market for clean renewable energy in California. Green Coast is extremely pleased with the results Marker Seven helped us achieve.”
Using Green Coast’s Web site ideas and business objectives, Marker Seven’s design team created a visual approach that portrays an environmentally friendly feel for users. “In terms of design, we worked to combine the natural color palette and organic shapes with the technical photos of energy and commerce. Usually, designs are either organic or technical, not both,” said Scott Abbott, Creative Director at Marker Seven. The elegantly organized content simplifies site navigation. All information is accessible from Green Coast’s homepage.
“Green Coast Post” is the first blog allowing users to discuss and exchange information on market research for clean, renewable energy technologies in California. The blog currently has more than twenty California-based experts in clean, renewable energy as contributors.
“We implemented Movable Type, one of the leading blog engines, to create a tool that seamlessly works with Green Coast's design needs,” said Patrick Ford, Solutions Architect at Marker Seven. Used for the simplicity of its editing interface for the current contributors, Movable Type allows authors from all technical skill levels to easily contribute to “Green Coast Post”. Marker Seven launched www.greencoast.org on November 7, 2005.
The Green Coast Foundation is a nonprofit public benefit organization dedicated to supporting and accelerating the growth of California's market for clean, renewable energy ("Green Energy"). California's shift towards Green Energy will help to clean the air, improve public health, reduce global warming, lessen our dependence on foreign oil and create high quality jobs.
