Marker Seven, a premier provider of Web-based solutions, today announced it is the recipient of a 2008 W3 Silver Award for its redesign of Greenbiz.com , a leading environmental news site and flagship site of Greener World Media Inc. The W³ Awards honors creative excellence on the Web. Marker Seven was among over 3,000 entries competing for this year’s honors.
“While our goal with any project first and foremost is to help our clients achieve their business objectives, we greatly appreciate validation from among our own industry members,” said John Clauss, Marker Seven co-founder and president. “Receiving a W3 Award is particularly significant because of the vast number of agencies and individuals competing and the prestigious panel of judges involved in making the selections.”
The W³ Awards honor creative excellence on the Web, and recognizes the creative and marketing professionals behind award-winning Websites, Web Video and Online Marketing programs. It is the first major Web competition to be accessible to the biggest agencies, the smallest firms, and everyone in between. The competition is sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a “Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms.
Marker Seven’s selection as a 2008 W3 Silver Award winner underscores the firm’s innovative approach to revising the Greenbiz.com site to accommodate its growing user community – several hundred thousand monthly viewers – with easier navigation and usability. In redesigning the site, Marker Seven employed Drupal, an open-source content management system, which enables users to manage a Website without the need for technical expertise. Other elements on which the IAVA based its award selection included Marker Seven’s user-centric approach to the site’s information architecture and clean design.
“We are delighted in the selection of Marker Seven as a W3 award recipient based on its work in redesigning our site,” said Hugh Byrne, senior vice president, Product Development & Marketing, Greener World Media, Inc. “The award notwithstanding, Marker Seven has won our respect both for the design and creativity of our new site. The clean and intuitive interface is a direct result of their having worked collaboratively with us to understand our business and our users, and has been a key factor in growing our traffic by nearly 50 percent.”
