Rebecca Kidder in the News
Marker Seven’s Director of Client Services, Rebecca Kidder, is included in the current issue of Bay Area Business Woman (BABW), as a representative of San Francisco Women on the Web (SFWoW). Kidder represents much of what Marker Seven and SFWoW are known for: professionalism, extraordinary talent, skill, and personable interaction.
The BABW story focused on where women in technology are, and Kidder has a simple answer: Look online. Women have been involved in the depths of technology since the first computers came onto the market, though there is a dearth of women in the development side of technology.
“I am flattered to be included in this story. As a member of the tech community, and a board member of SFWoW, the stereotype, role, visibility and numbers of women in tech is a concern,” remarks Kidder, “finding employers that see talented women for what they are, great developers, designers and programmers, is priceless. I am thrilled to be working with a company that values quality work above gender differences.”
Kidder has been key in developing a new series of new networking events for SFWoW, an organization of professional women in technology. Marker Seven fully supports her work with this group, and hosts workshops and sponsorships of SFWoW. The event topics include the one woman issue: there is an uneven distribution of male and female employees in many of the highly skilled positions, creating awkward workplace environments. Kidder praises Marker Seven’s ratio of 2:1 for full time employees and 2 1/3:1 regular contractors, which is impressive by any standard.
Active in the Bay Area Web community through her role with SFWoW, Kidder’s friendly ability to communicate well, her professional experience and top of line work in the Web development field are bringing her to the forefront as an online “who’s who”.
Kidder herself began a love affair with computers began long before finding a job in the industry. Introduced to the joys of computer games, programming and the possibilities of all those zeros and ones in 1978, her current position as Director of Client Services is tailored to her extensive knowledge and teacher’s patience. Whether working with clients who are online novices or computer whizzes, Kidder is able to explain, walk through, and keep clients comfortably up to date and on task with entire projects, developing positive ongoing relationships with clients.
With a computer oriented history that leads back to posting teenage notes on computer bulletin boards (pre-dating the Web by a decade), Kidder’s wealth of knowledge and span of interest make her expert opinions relevant, easy to understand, and humorous. Marker Seven looks forward to seeing Kidder become an increasingly well known name as a company representative and of San Francisco women in technology.
